On Tanzania safari maps there are various types of accommodation. And although in most trips it is not a topic that gives it more importance, choosing well where you stay on a safari can make you experience the experience in one way or another . And I'm not just talking about the comforts of the accommodation, the food, the size, the people who manage it and the atmosphere it creates, but above all, its location and location .
So it is worth spending some time looking at possible places to stay during the safari. Keep in mind that you will spend most of the day in the accommodation. Since safaris are generally done in the morning at sunrise and in the afternoon just before dusk, so you spend many hours in the lodge or camp where you stay. If you organize it with a local agency they can advise you very well. The truth is that I got carried away by José Luis' recommendations and it was a success.
There are basically three types of accommodation during a safari:
Camping. This is the cheapest option and sleeps in typical tents with shared bathrooms or latrines. Normally in camping safaris you have to set up the tent and food, cook and tents are usually included in the price. Although you will have to carry your sleeping bag. It is more focused for those who seek more adventure and less comfort.
Lodge. They are hotel type establishments with more infrastructure, sometimes also a swimming pool, and they are usually large and have bungalow or cabin rooms.

Tented Camp. In my opinion the most recommended. They are not very large campsites and with less infrastructure than the lodges, but the environment and location are usually much better, almost always in strategic places in the parks and visit Tanzania safari map with a lot of contact with nature. In addition, they tend to be much more integrated establishments at the ecological level and with less impact at the environmental level than the lodges. He sleeps in some big canvas tents but with a bed and a bathroom inside. They reminded me of the camps of the old explorers. In my opinion they have more charm.
Within all these types of accommodation, especially the lodge and the tented camp we also find categories, from the most basic to those of super luxury . The leap in quality from the most basic, (which is usually very very basic) to the intermediate is quite substantial, so it is worth considering. The luxury and super luxury, obviously are much more expensive, so if you do not have a very tight budget, it is recommended to opt for the intermediate class . This is what we did.
And do not think that the accommodation takes the important part of the budget, the most expensive is really the daily entrance to the park and the expenses of guide and Tanzania safari map transport, so lowering the category will not always make the trip drop very substantially in price.
The accommodations where we were were these:
Lake Nakuru Lodge on Lake Nakuru . It was the only lodge we stayed in. I was in a prime spot by the lake, right at the park entrance with great views from the bungalow. An intermediate place, nothing fancy, but we were very comfortable.
In tented camp at the Sekenani Camp in Masai Mara . A place in an incredible location, surrounded by lush green. The place is small and the atmosphere is very close. In this camp I heard the lions roar at night several times. I loved the site In a tented camp at Base Camp Explorer in Masai Mara .
We stayed at two different points in Masai Mara to have access to two ends of the park. Something totally recommended since it gives you a much broader view of the park and you can also see completely different landscapes and animals. This was without a doubt the place I liked the most from the safari. We were also 3 days. It is managed by masais, next to one of its villages and in a very ecological way. When we left, we ended up hugging half the Masai who run it. A great deal and atmosphere. The camp is beautiful and located in a spectacular place. The food is also delicious.
Note: At night, they usually put hot water bags for your feet inside the bed. It is cold at night. The first day when we went to bed we were scared to death thinking it was any bug. We weren't expecting it at all. So you are warned.
